Medialooks, creators of commercial video and broadcast development APIs MFormats and MPlatform, have integrated support for NDI into their products. The Medialooks team has provided a demo video, embedded above, showing the simplicity with which their integration can be used by developers. In addition they have done a blog entry with code samples for both the MFormats and MPlatform SDKs – see link below.
MFormats is geared to allow developers to access and handle video-with-audio on a random access basis within their applications, accurate to the individual frame. MPlatform provides higher level functionality that allows broadcast clients and production developers to develop applications for ingest, virtual studio, video switcher, CG, playout, station automation and other broadcast use cases.
With NDI, the users of these commercial SDKs now have full integration of the technology that offers video transport over IP on standard 1 Gigabit Ethernet networks. Integrating NDI also creates a bridge to and between the “SDI-over-IP” solutions requiring 10 Gigabit Ethernet and higher, currently in development for high-end broadcast needs. NDI allows users to adopt any of these they need to fit their use cases, so that their choice is no longer limited to just one and to the capabilities that one may support. In addition, pristine video quality is maintained in an NDI-mediated multi-standard IP workflow.
